- Safety must be the primary requirement during the event. All N.J. rules if the road must be obeyed. Manual direction finding exterior to the vehicle will be not be allowed while the vehicle is in motion.
- All participants will meet at Camp Evans main parking lot, opposite gate number 3, on Monmouth Road in Wall Township, N.J. at 9 am for check in.
- The primary fox frequency and primary talk in frequency will be disclosed at the start of the event. In the event of any deliberate jamming of the primary fox frequency, a secondary fox frequency will be disclosed and initiated over the primary talk in frequency by a code word to be disclosed at the start of the event.
- A secondary talk in frequency will also be disclosed at the start of the event. This frequency will only be used in case of deliberate jamming of the primary talk in frequency. The code word to switch to this frequency will be disclosed at the start of the event.
- Once the event has started, any team wishing to drop out shall notify a fox official over the designated talk in frequency.
- For the event to start, the fox must be copyable at the starting point by a majority agreement among the hunters present. Once all stations are ready, a go signal will be indicated by a fox hunt official.
- The fox transmitter will maintain constant power throughout the event.
- The fox antenna will not be changed during the event.
- The fox shall transmit an audible CW callsign of N2MO.
- The fox shall transmit for a minimum of 60 seconds every three minutes. The transmission shall consist of a series of the letter "V" followed by the callsign ID of N2MO.
- The fox and antenna shall be within 500 feet access by standard passenger cars in a publicly accessible area with no charge for admission. Reasonable care will be taken to ensure that the hunters can safely get to the hidden transmitter.
- The fox and antenna can be disguised to look like anything other than what we know a transmitter and antenna to look like. It is up to the hunters to actually point it out to a fox official who will stationed near the fox at all times throughout the event.
- A fox official will monitor the designated talk in frequency to collect drop outs, announce if he is having technical difficulties, announce a fox frequency change, cancel the event, announce a winner, etc.
- The first team to find the fox will be considered the winner regardless of mileage traveled. The event will then continue for another 45 minutes to give all other teams a chance to find the fox. After 45 minutes the event will officially end and all participants will be talked into the fox site over the designated talk in frequency.
- The hunt boundaries will be delineated at the start of the event.
- The event will end under 4 conditions:
A . Forty five minutes after a winner is declared.
B . All participants drop out.
C . The fox is not found in 3 hours from the official start of the event.
D. A fox official has declared the contest null and void for special circumstances such as bad weather, personal injuries or emergencies that may arise to any participant during the event, excessive jamming of the fox on all frequencies, etc. The fox official has the final say to call off the event.
- All of the above rules are subject to change without prior notice, however, if any of the above rules are changed, the participants will be notified of the changes at check in time.
- The officials for the event will be announced at start time.
- NOTE. A five dollar registration fee per team will be collected at registration time. If the event is declared null and void , all monies will be returned to the participants. A part of this registration fee will be used to provide a small prize for the first place winners.
